A graduate student’s enrollment status—full-time or part-time—is based on the number of graduate credits in which the student is enrolled during a given term. Full-Time Status
To be classified as a full-time graduate student, a student must be enrolled in a minimum of six graduate credits per term. There are two eight-week terms in each semester. Full-time students are expected to enroll in six credits in each of the two fall terms, six in each of the two spring terms, and six credits in the summer term.
Part-Time Status
A graduate student enrolled in fewer than six graduate credits in a given term is considered a part-time student.
Graduate Assistant Full-Time Enrollment Policy
Graduate students holding an assistantship are considered full-time for the purpose of employment and institutional reporting if they are enrolled in a minimum of three (3) graduate credit hours per 8-week term.
This policy applies regardless of the College’s general definition of full-time academic status. Graduate assistants must maintain continuous enrollment in at least three credit hours during each 8-week term in which they hold the assistantship.
Failure to meet this enrollment requirement may result in termination of the assistantship or ineligibility for renewal.
