The course provides an introduction to functions, their behavior, solution, analysis, and application. Algebraic, graphical, numerical, and modeling approaches to analysis of functions, along with appropriate mathematical language, notation, and symbolic manipulation skills, are studied. Functional families studied in this course include polynomial, rational, exponential, radical, logarithmic, trigonometric, and piecewise defined functions. This course is specifically recommended for students who plan to proceed to study calculus. (The course includes five class sessions each week.)
