The major in Criminal Justice is designed for those students interested in a career in a criminal justice setting (probation, corrections, diversion programs, court system, security, or law enforcement) or those interested in pursuing a law degree.
Students graduating with a bachelor's degree in criminal justice at Bethany College will be able to:
1. Describe and analyze how historical, and contemporary, social and legal contexts have shaped the criminal justice in the U.S.
2. Develop strategies to address social change and inequities within the context of the criminal justice system
3. Apply criminological theories and research within the criminal justice system in ways that are fair and just
4. Describe and analyze social structure and categories (e.g., race, class, gender) and their influence on laws and the enforcement of laws
5. Apply higher-order reasoning skills, including quantitative reasoning, critical analysis, and qualitative logic, in their work within the criminal justice system
